Agenda Organizing Tips 101

As a blogger, I spend a lot of my time online in the average time either on the computer or on my phone. So you might think that I use a digital calendar as well, but I don’t. I am a huge fan of my agenda for staying organized. It will never put me in hard situation as it will never run out of batteries. I don’t have to wait for it to load and I can customize it however I like.

Based on years of paper planner use, here are my tips to stay organized and be more productive on a daily basis…

1. Buy an agenda

The first important thing to stay organized is to buy an agenda or paper planner, surprise. Don’t use your phone, studies show that if you have your To-Do list or goals written, you are more likely to accomplish them. So, start up by buying a colourful agenda to cheer up your self and take a step towards your dreams.

2. Keep your agenda consistent

Try to use the same format for how you write down your appointments. This may sounds silly, but trust me it helps. Personally, I prefer to write “Event Name-Time-@Location” and I also include other important info like addresses, names and contact numbers especially if I am going to a new place.

3. Keep it with you all the time

Or keep it with you as much as possible so if you forget something about an important appointment like an address, you don’t have to dig through emails to find it. Also, check it daily, even if you know you don’t have anything planned for today, check it. It will help you get organized for the week ahead.

4. Use it for everything and anything

My agenda is not for appointments only. I use it to keep my life together, I write down to-do lists, friend’s addresses, places I’d like to visit, goals and bucket lists. I mark down important dates like holidays, birthdays and future plans.

5. Use some colours

It is very important that you make your agenda fun and attractive. Try to add some creative touches to you planner. Use colourful highlights, sticky pages markers, paper clips or bookmarks. Alternatively, you can use your own illustrations instead to add another level of personality to your planner. For me, I use all these techniques plus I use smiley face stickers about the size of dimes to mark times as completed, it is kinda cool.
